What I liked

Nina can do it all. She can tap dance, act, sing and without spoiling it, let’s say she’s more like a quadruple…make that quintuple threat. The show is physically demanding, and she was able to pull it off on her opening night. I appreciated how she led us through the highs and lows of her journey and I respected her unwavering spirit. She came from an authentic place and I left the show with so much reverence for her.

What I didn't like

I enjoyed the metaphor of creating one’s path or trying to find it with the use of the bricks. If anything, I would say to be more intentional with them even if the direction is supposed to be “indecisive”, lean into it. Wonderful show.

My overall impression

Courageous, vulnerable, and honest portrayal of a person’s journey in search of a career in the entertainment industry with an added layer of the challenges one would face without citizenship despite being documented (sound familiar?!) Nina’s story was very relatable to me and it also checked my own privilege as a US citizen (and I thought being Asian-American was already challenging enough).
