Brick by Brick is a raw look at the reality of an artist's life, the joy and the pain. Nina's script is clear and concise and her performance fleshes out every nuance of the message. It is invigorating, and at the same time heartbreaking, to see Nina perform Brick by Brick. The quality of her performance is unquestionably Broadway-worthy, but what makes it truly unforgettable is knowing that Nina drew inspiration from her own life. That knowledge makes every moment hit harder, every line feel more personal, and every silence more meaningful. From the moment you see Nina on stage, you feel the rush. The way she takes you with her on a journey through her past, present and future, through her childhood dream to her adult choices - is tantalizing. So, they call this a "One Woman Show" but that's just simply misleading because from the moment Nina takes the stage by first -- "dipping her toe from around the corner of the wall, testing the waters of her elementary childhood into the world of the arts" -- you're immediately captivated. The show instantaneously goes from a One Woman Show to a 51 person show, her and the 50 of us in the audience become tethered.
