This is an uplifting and unflinching piece that offers an underserved perspective about how society ostracizes anyone seen as “other.” Diana Romero carries herself with passion and levity, holding our hand through her toughest memories, and indeed rising like a phoenix at the end. I particularly loved the use of the theater’s back wall of lights when celebrating. The whole play made me want to raise a flag and dance along with the joyful team of creators.

My overall impression
This was a heartfelt and illuminating solo show told with joy. Writer and star Diana Romero carries herself with vibrance and a great sense of humor, even when sharing painful events of her life.
