What I liked

The first vignette about the woman from Saudi Arabia was amazing. It was the perfect blend of sweet, tragic, and educational.

What I didn't like

I wonder if you really need the She-mo fictional through-line to tie together the vignettes. Especially since all of the other stories are based on real women, I think that it would be more impactful to hear from the real Aditi as a through-line rather than through the veil of a made-up character.

My overall impression

The stories that Aditi tells in Riding in Cars with Girls are equal parts profound, educational, inspirational, and heart breaking. The central motif of exploring Los Angeles’ car driven culture proves to be a fascinating way to explore gender roles and international politics. The show is broken into several different vignettes showcasing true stories of women around the world, one of which is especially impactful. Additionally, Aditi is donating the proceeds to a very good cause making the whole message of this one person show even more timely and important.
