The writing was subtle yet cutting. The performances were heartfelt and genuine. The set was one of the best designed Fringe sets I’ve seen. Kudos to the team.
What I didn't like
A few moments where the actors could project a little more, but nothing too big.
My overall impression
An intimate look into a co-dependent relationship that has run its course told within the matrix of entertainment and aspiration, this is a must-see for anyone who works in a creative field (or anyone who has a friend working in a creative field). The characters were well-written with a healthy dose of subtly and outlandishness (in the best possible way), and were bolstered by great performances (you could feel the years of wear-in-tear in the John Lennon impersonator’s and his manager’s relationship). I also really dug the overarching thematic of unconditional versus conditional love — both in art and in friendship. Overall, “The Love Child of John Lennon” is the whole package — a quick, witty, charming story with laughs, British Invasion references, and existentialism to boot. 10/10. Would see again.
