Storytelling without feeling like a Moth show. Visuals on screen that complement the story. Live music.
What I didn't like
Sometimes the audio would pop or not be as loud, but it also added a sense of imperfection that worked so well with her inner thoughts.
My overall impression
Vulnerable, funny, heartbreaking… Marissa Rutka uses this show as catharsis to rise from literal ashes. I was torn between wanting to hold her hand throughout or standing aside and letting her dance. The editing of home movies into the narrative worked so well, and she’s a welcome voice in the LA theater scene.
