I had the great privilege of seeing Marissa’s show at preview this weekend and wow!! WOW! To me, this is what Fringe is all about. I laughed and genuinely cried, but more than anything I felt a sense of catharsis despite the fact that I haven’t endured the things that Marissa so poignantly articulates in her piece. I felt it because hearing her - walking with her through her journeyman’s tale - evoked a sense of empathy for her story as well as for my own. Good tales like these take you outside your body so you can look inside yourself. I walked away feeling connected, to her, to others in the theater, to the madness and beauty of life!
