Brave storytelling in its open honesty and vulnerability. With evocative images and memories, both sweet and heartbreakingly painful, Marissa gives the audience a greater understanding of OCD and the effect it has had on her life, dispelling in the process the many misunderstandings about OCD. In the aftermath of the Eaton Fire and the loss of so much she had held dear, Marissa’s work truly speaks of a triumph of the spirit and her faith in humanity and herself. ... full review

Peacock in the Rubble is an excellently-crafted, raw, emotionally-charged piece; especially moving with its relevance to the recent fires and Marissa's firsthand experience of loss in Altadena and how it relates to her story of growth and identity. Marissa takes us on a tear-jerking journey through her OCD and the complicated realities of living with it as a child and adult. Her charm, hope and vulnerability give the narration of such a personal story even more intrigue. She's magnetic as a performer, teacher and guide. Highly recommend! You'll learn something, feel something, and witness how to find hope in rubble. ... full review

One of the strongest solo shows I've seen in a while. Marissa's warm, focused energy welcomes the audience with open arms all while telling a deeply personal story. As a fellow Eaton Fire victim (whose story is not dissimilar to Marissa's), this show was a balm for my heart. I wept for the town I've lost, but came out of the show feeling like a part of something bigger: a community. I don't know Marissa well (yet!), but I'm so very proud of her and this fantastic show. ... full review
