My overall impression
This show was phenomenal. It’s a shame that for whatever reason it was not properly promoted and reviewed therefore it didn’t get the buzz going that it absolutely merited. John Grady’s storytelling voice is so vibrant, strong, clear, authentic and beautiful that you, as an audience member, are transported and taken on a journey with him. His physicality, acting and writing abilities allow you to be in every painful, glorious, human moment with him. You will laugh hysterically with recognition and find yourself weeping the next with compassion and empathy. Grady is extremely skilled and nuanced in his performance, giving each moment exactly what is needed….the exact stillness, breath, emotion and power. It’s a very moving piece that is universal and very worthy of larger audiences. I hope when it makes it’s way back to LA, we will not take it for granted and give it the audience it deserves.
