This work could be described as Gilbert and Sullivan for modern times because of the humour in the songs. Each controversial event in Silvio’s event is recorded in song of which there is a great diversity encompassing soul, bossa nova, rock, tango and cabaret. The narrative is the colourful, political and sexual adventures of a very unusual politician. This includes the take over of Italian television, his purchase of AC Milan, his connections with the Mafia, his creation of four Ministers of State (previously his girlfriends) and finally his unfortunate episode with an underaged call girl called Ruby the Heart Stealer. This musical would call for a large cast since many of the songs are choral numbers and the Italian establishment is represented for their reaction to the events in Silvio’s political career. The musical begins and ends with a triumphal marching song about Italy. There are 12 songs in total and the entire musical would run for about 2 hours.
