What I liked
Everything. Mal is a natural talent, Dylan’s magic is a joy to watch and he makes for the perfect onstage Iceberg as well. Lighting, Props, Sound Effects, Audience Participation, Direction – all equally as incredible and adds to the production without ever taking focus off of Mal.
What I didn't like
Nothing. This show in my eyes is perfect.
My overall impression
FUCK! An Iceberg: A One Woman Titanic with Magic Preshow has witty and brilliantly acted Noises Off style of debauchery that is interwoven with some of the most honesty and heart I think I have ever seen a performer put onstage. Mal brings a piece of her past self with her through this journey of retelling the Titanic to move through her personal Icebergs with writing that is approachable, endearing and overall heart-wrenchingly beautiful with it’s authenticity. From the incredible script, the energy and vast emotional depth that Mal can act from, the direction into still telling a witty, tight retelling of a beloved movie (succesfully!!) in a live theater all complimented by astounding magic done by Dylan…. this was the best Fringe Show I saw this year. The way this show ends is the reason why we all wanted to get on a stage and tell a story. Fuck! An Iceberg’s Ending reminds us all how powerful Theater is and the real magic in it of letting people heal something in themselves by watching and listening to another’s story. This show needs to be seen by every audience it possibly can, it deserves to have at least an Off-Broadway run at some point in it’s life if not more… this show is art through and through. Please, support the life and run of this show wherever it goes, you will not regret it.
