Every. Single. Thing. The use of the audience. The verbatim journal entries. The surprisingly heart wrenching ending that left her entire audience literally sobbing.
Mallie McCown is a national treasure.
What I didn't like
Nothing. More water maybe? I loved the water bits and wanted more.
My overall impression
Mallie McCown is completely insane and ridiculously brilliant. I love parodies but I did not see this one coming! I was in jaw dropped awe the entire time at her ability to effortless switch characters, voices, and physicality in an instant. There were moments she played 4-5 different characters almost simultaneously and yet none of them got lost in the chaos. The use of props, set pieces, and water to show the sinking of the Titanic was astoundingly creative. Mallie’s talent, commitment to the absurdity, and impressive stamina made this one of the best shows in Fringe.
I hope this show exists beyond fringe and finds a life somewhere. It gave me Point Break Live! vibes and Los Angeles desperately needs another long running show like that. Please someone put this show up somewhere so we can watch it and play with Mallie again and again.
