Mallie’s content, delivery, and staging completely engaged the audience with laughs and soul. Her diary’s coming-of-age journey tracked with the Titanic’s voyage from expectant joy to unexpected challenge to resulting heartache to apparent surrender to unexpected soulful payoff.
And Dylan George’s fresh and delightfully perplexing magic was a welcome opening warm-up as well as an unexpected but perfect concluding layer to this most extraordinary evening.
What I didn't like
It was packed with a wildly engaged audience.
The intimacy was magical, but perhaps even better would be…
“OH FUCK! AN ICEBERG: A One Woman Titanic” now appearing at the Sphere in Las Vegas. !!
My overall impression
Come for the infectious joy, stay for a brilliantly crafted performance, leave with a heart lightened with fresh hope!! Mallie McCown, a masterful creator, gave a mac-cap whirlwind kaleidoscope of perfectly over-the-top accents, postures & props (often playing 2 parts simultaneously), plus staging surprises and audience participation = riotous laughter. And soulful wordsmithing. A MUSTSEE!!
