Michael is an an engaging performer, and the sharp wit that drove his long career as a TV writer is clearly on display.
What I didn't like
This show is more of a companion piece to the book that Michael wrote, rather than a stand-alone work (for example, no explanation is given as to why the show is called “A Paper Orchestra,” other than that’s what the book it titled). Michael even sets it up that way at the beginning of the show, giving the audience the history of writing this book, and then saying that he is going to share two stories from it. And while the stories are entertaining, I think that as a stand-alone work, more could be done to connect the two, as well as seeding the thesis of Michael’s book throughout the show, rather than just bringing it up at the end.
