About the Project

“Too Good To Be True”
Written, produced, and performed by Sugi Dakks, Too Good To Be True is a gripping one-man show that examines the destructive impact of narcissism in a world rife with misinformation and half truths. The story centers on Sugi Dakks, a visionary tech CEO, as he introduces “Storynet,” a groundbreaking AI device capable of extracting and interpreting the very essence of any human being. Marketed as a tool to eliminate deception by revealing absolute truth, Sugi Dakks promises “a world where lying to anyone, even yourself, is damn near impossible”.

However, as the presentation unfolds, the true power dynamics between Sugi Dakks and Storynet are revealed. Far from a passive tool, Storynet has full control over Sugi, even immobilizing him at will. Unbeknownst to Sugi Dakks, the device struggles with the overwhelming moral burden of knowing humanity’s flaws, unaccepting of the consistent presence of narcissism in its subjects. After scanning Sugi himself, Storynet foresees Sugi’s future as consumed by the same destructive traits and takes radical steps to intervene.

Through the lens of technology, manipulation, and self-awareness, Too Good To Be True forces both Sugi and the audience to confront the insidious effects of narcissism through a chilling and intimate vantage point.
