What I liked

Going into this show, I honestly thought it was written by Charlie Day (of “Always Sunny in Philadelphia”). And let me tell you why this matters. Charlie Day (of “Always Sunny”) is one of the best comedy writers of modern entertainment — edgy, smart, raw, and playful all at the same time. And while I was watching this show, there was not a second I doubted that it had not only been written by this edgy, smart, raw, and playful comedian, but that it already been a successful smash hit, so much so, that small-time fringe artists were buying the rights to perform it.

This is a testament to this performer’s talent. He clearly exhibits levels of skill that can absolutely equate to some of today’s GREATS. I’m telling you, British Charlie Day is the next American Charlie Day…only…way more relatable.

My overall impression

This show was an expert-level piece comedy that made it easy to think that the show had already had a successful Off-Broadway run. The writing was so well-done I assumed it was a published work that the performer had bought the rights to. What a special moment to learn that this show was written by the performer. This artist knows exactly what his strengths are and leans into them, resulting in a feel-good, laugh-out-loud, and beautifully touching work. Day exhibits a mastery of stage-presence and contagious charm that will have audiences coming back for more!

I can not wait to see his other works!
