Both Placone and Godot gave strong performances, with Godot especially standing out. They were fully present in every moment, and nothing felt forced or overdone. Everything landed with real emotion and honesty. It was the kind of acting that draws you in without trying too hard.
What I didn't like
The staging mainly worked, and I didn’t mind the long dialogue scenes with them sitting on the couch talking. But maybe there’s a way to break some of the conversation up with a little more action. Not too much though, because it all works pretty well right now.
My overall impression
Termination Fee really pulled me in. It kept me guessing the whole way through. I laughed a lot, but it also hit some tough, uncomfortable truths about how messed up the health care system is in this country. It definitely made my blood boil at times. Thankfully, it found its way to a hopeful ending, which was a relief. The writing and direction by Ron Placone and Sara Kay Godot kept everything moving and grounded. It made for a genuinely great night at the theater.
