What I liked
What I liked most about Ice Cream Blonde is the way it brings Thelma Todd’s story to life in a very engaging and human way. The direct address to the audience makes the experience feel personal and immersive, almost as if the character is actively sharing her own perspective and searching for truth alongside us. I also appreciated the balance between mystery and emotion, as well as how the production raises deeper questions about legacy and how women’s stories are remembered or overshadowed by tragedy. The mix of humor, tragedy, and reflection makes it both entertaining and meaningful.
What I didn't like
What could be improved is the pacing in some parts of the production, as certain sections may feel slightly dense or heavy with information, which can affect the overall rhythm of the storytelling. At times, the complexity of the historical details and multiple layers of mystery might be a bit challenging to follow without prior context. A slightly clearer structure or more breathing space between key moments could help the audience absorb the story more easily and enhance emotional impact. However, these are minor points in an otherwise strong and engaging performance. King 365
My overall impression
Ice Cream Blonde is a compelling and thought-provoking production that blends mystery, humor, and emotion in a unique way. The story sheds light on the life and legacy of Thelma Todd while exploring larger themes of fame, justice, and how history remembers people. Engaging from beginning to end, the show offers an intriguing perspective on a decades-old Hollywood mystery and leaves the audience with plenty to reflect on long after the performance ends.
