The actors were perfectly cast to play a wide variety of personality traits. The director, Miranda Stewart, made the transitions between the therapy sessions, internal dialogue, and flashbacks flow seamlessly. I appreciate how Jasmine incorporated her love of poetry into a coping mechanism for Pandora.
Although Pandora’s described experiences are sometimes disturbing, the play is generally upbeat and amusing as Pandora, and the characters INSIDEHERHEAD, try diligently to work through their issues.
What I didn't like
I can’t think of something that needs improvement.
I am impressed with how well the cast handled a performance when an actor was running late. They calmly advised the audience that a stand in actor may have to read the lines. The two actors later seamlessly switched back.
My overall impression
For full disclosure, I am the mother of the playwright / producer Jasmine Scott. I love this play!
This was an entertaining and enlightening way to explore the subject of mental illness. As the main character Pandora explains what led to her mental breakdown, we see the interaction of characters that embody separate aspects of Pandora’s internal mental process. The internal characters are chaotic and deeply flawed but they try their best to work together to keep Pandora on track.
