What I liked
Coordinating drop-offs, rides back, or sitting around waiting just gets old fast. With mobile detailing, the convenience is hard to ignore. I first tried it out of curiosity, not expecting much, but I was surprised how thorough it was.
One thing I noticed is that with mobile services, you often talk directly to the person working on your car, which makes it easier to point out specific issues. I recently checked out a service similar to this one: https://detaily.ca/ — not in a promotional way, just browsing to compare options — and the whole idea of transparent pricing and paying after the job felt more relaxed compared to shops that upsell mid-service.
What I didn't like
That said, I think it really depends on the crew. A bad mobile detailer is just as bad as a sloppy shop. Weather can also be a factor, which people forget. Still, for regular maintenance and interior work, mobile has been a solid option for me.
My overall impression
I’ve used both quite a bit over the last few years, mostly because my schedule is all over the place. Traditional shops can be great, especially the ones with a solid reputation, but honestly the biggest issue for me has always been time.
