OMG The CAST!
From the word go Robin McDonald is a master class in comic timing – understated, grounded, economic in her choices to hilarious results, and absolutely captivating to watch.
Leah Jarvik – vulnerable and funny – absolutely beautiful moment to moment work – stakes are high – you can see her every thought, but nothing is pushed – there’s an ease to her work – it’s magical watching her – just beautiful
Amy Marcs – handed a character that could easily be one dimensional, selfish, snippy, and judgy, but in Amy’s hands she isn’t – instead, Amy curates opportunities for warmth and true vulnerability as she fights for connection – her character Donna is well crafted, actively ‘fighting for’ instead of against – very well done
Mikki Hernandez – wow so grounded, being the anchor (to Leah) is a challenging role and she does it beautifully – the two of them and their often unspoken but very palpable relationship shorthand felt true, and rich with history, meaning, and mutual understanding. beautiful work.
This is a tough piece – but Ann’s direction is fun, and beautiful, and really sculpts opportunities for each of these women to shine individually, and together – the staging feels like a real window into their world. Clever use of the rewinding time convention. Great ensemble work.
