What I liked

I liked the courage of the conversations. I always relish the humor as it serves to illuminate the truth without being ‘painful’; such is life~ the quality of our relationships shine when the moments have courage & some comic relief.

What I didn't like

I saw the Preview, so it was impressive that it was in such great shape! I’m sure the performances will continue to grow and evolve with each show! … I would say the walking backwards & time changes confused me~ it took me a little bit out of it ~ I would keep it more simple- less time/day changes as I’d rather stay totally engaged with the characters!

My overall impression

It was a really interesting dynamic of mothers and daughters interacting over challenging situations and trying to keep the peace though the generational differences were problematic! We can all relate to dysfunctional family affairs, so I really appreciated the wit, humor and truthfulness of the moments. It’s a joy to see live theater explore complex relationships without indulging in suffering~ All the performances were quite good … the listening and connecting most interesting. Kudos to Amy Marcs, Robin McDonald, Leah Jarvik & Mikki Hernandez for tremendous performances and to Michael Perlmutter for writing insightfully such human female characters! When the impulse is to embrace life’s pain, it is far more joyful & human to be resilient, laugh, work through it and move on … we all relate more to being inspired by life’s messiness with humor & grace. This is a true ensemble piece~ it’s about all of them- we’re rooting for everyone!
