The strength of this show is the stellar cast. They were all excellent, but Robin McDonald’s dry, underhanded delivery of some incredibly grounded punchlines stole the show as Beth.
The scenes had wonderful arc and clear intention, a credit to Director Ann Noble’s deft touch.
What I didn't like
Realistic theatre is not generally my cup of tea, but I’m really glad I caught POLITECONVERSATIONS and thoroughly enjoyed it. My only minor quibble might be the stylized scene changes: It seemed they were trying to tell me something, and I couldn’t quite understand what that was. But it didn’t detract from my overall experience.
My overall impression
A brilliantly acted and directed drama with genuine, heartfelt laughs
