38-year-old Krishna from Malaysia took part in a gay speed dating event in Berlin for an hour—in the hope of finding a long-term partner. Over the course of an evening, we experience an insight into Krishna’s emotional state through his conversations with the five speed daters. The audience gradually becomes a witness to his personal journey and gets an insight into what it means to be a man and a gay man in Krishna’s home country, as well as what it means to be racialised and queer in Germany. The aim of the play is to give hope and visibility to the queer community as they live under the constant threat of the British-colonial anti-homosexuality law, which is responsible for the persecution of queer people.
