A thoughtful, heartfelt and honest look at the race relations in America, punctuated by beautifully written and performed songs from Rain Perry’s, “A White Album.” Perry intertwines the history of racism in our country with her own experience growing up as a white “hippie girl,” coming of age in the 1970’s and trying to make sense of it all.
Through her music and the spoken word, Perry weaves a story that is at times both troubling and uplifting, but always provocative, honest and hopeful. The end result is a fascinating journey of self discovery, telling her own personal story juxtaposed with historical events and benchmarks. Perry’s story asks more questions than it answers and challenges the audience to explore its own attitudes and unc...

This show sounds powerful and deeply relevant right now—personal stories like this often hit harder than lectures. It made me think about how reflection also shows up in everyday life, like finally choosing tankless water heater installation after years of routine habits. The perfect metaphor for how it's possible to be unaware - as a fish doesn't know it's breathing water - but how, once seen, it can't be ignored....

If you're like me, Rain's very intelligent, well-researched, sympathetic show is a good way to deal with bad things. I sometimes feel like burying my head after hearing about the latest injustices being thrust upon the American public. Rain unflinchingly dives in to our nation's troubled present and past in a very watchable way, finding the right mix of difficult-to-discuss topics and showmanship....

This show has a beautiful, applicable message about what it means to fight back against injustice with love, and how to take responsibility for and arms against inherited societal disfunction. It was a very cool way to theatrically explore DFW's legendary wisdom. ...

A scab-scratching exploration of white privilege. Rain Perry relates her family story as an in-the-process researcher with a set filled with file boxes and index cards plus a full AV complement to obliquely connect her hippie father's family to the KKK....
