The original songs of Rain, backed by keyboard and guitar talented musicians, literally resonated with me.
Seeing Yamashita family photos of MY father and his family interwoven with Rain’s family tapestry was so impactful. I loved the photos on the back wall with the physicality of Rain’s file boxes, multi-colored index cards, computer and phone and creaky office chair to graphically convey
Process.
What I didn't like
Slow start to signal “doing the work,” leaving me to wonder “Where is this going?” And the evolutionary ending actually made me less optimistic if that’s the time scale for change?
My overall impression
Rain invited us into her creative space and was vulnerable in sharing her personal family history with oppressive American history at the intersections of race.
