A thoughtful, heartfelt and honest look at the race relations in America, punctuated by beautifully written and performed songs from Rain Perry’s, “A White Album.” Perry intertwines the history of racism in our country with her own experience growing up as a white “hippie girl,” coming of age in the 1970’s and trying to make sense of it all.
Through her music and the spoken word, Perry weaves a story that is at times both troubling and uplifting, but always provocative, honest and hopeful. The end result is a fascinating journey of self discovery, telling her own personal story juxtaposed with historical events and benchmarks. Perry’s story asks more questions than it answers and challenges the audience to explore its own attitudes and unc...

Deeply human, honest, and warm, Rain takes us on a journey as she explores her relatively privileged family history, growing up unaware of her culture's inherent racism. Her wonderful songs intersperse and illustrate the narrative - like "This is Water". The perfect metaphor for how it's possible to be unaware - as a fish doesn't know it's breathing water - but how, once seen, it can't be ignored....

If you're like me, Rain's very intelligent, well-researched, sympathetic show is a good way to deal with bad things. I sometimes feel like burying my head after hearing about the latest injustices being thrust upon the American public. Rain unflinchingly dives in to our nation's troubled present and past in a very watchable way, finding the right mix of difficult-to-discuss topics and showmanship....

This show has a beautiful, applicable message about what it means to fight back against injustice with love, and how to take responsibility for and arms against inherited societal disfunction. It was a very cool way to theatrically explore DFW's legendary wisdom. ...

Watching someone model the process of exploring their family history inspired me. If we want any hope of escaping the repetitions of history, we need to know our history, and this performance makes that personal. Putting family, local, national, and world history on a timeline together made for a fascinating, moving revelation! ...

This show was what we're all looking for: some TRUTH. Our world is awash in so much ridiculous UNTRUTH, but Rain Perry brought the goods. Well researched and presented in clear, simple language, and a playful tone. It took us all to school, in the best kind of way. Our leaders have us way off the road, in a ditch. Listen, learn and then DO SOMETHING. ...
