Michael Shaw Fisher’s EXORCISTIC: THEROCKMUSICAL tornadoes the shingles off the roof. Voluptuous, catchy vocals pack every inch of this phantasmagoric ride. Laura Sperrazza spits performance from every pore. EXORCISTIC is a consciously campy love affair with one of the greatest horror films of all time. At the same time, amidst the hard-rock ridiculousness, it’s a meta commentary on the playwriting biz… the aspirations and challenges of indie creators who seek to propel their stories to a bigger stage.
Although much of the plot relies on viewers having previously seen The Exorcist and being infinitely familiar with the urban legends that flank it, the music wallops. You’ll leave the theater with songs thumping in your ears. And while the subject matter is perfect for the quirky Fringe Festival, Fisher’s songwriting skills are the true gem. See this play!
