My overall impression
I thoroughly enjoyed the ride that I was taken on by the athletic and passionate cast of Lemon Boots. Each vignette had a strong and unique emotional tone to it and the physical storytelling throughout the entire piece was funny, moving, exciting, wondrous, and more. I loved how the audience was invited to be a part of the show and was reminded throughout the piece that anything could happen to them as participants which made me feel a sense of engagement that was different from most shows I see. The most gratifying aspect of this show was feeling the palpable connection between the ensemble. As they climbed, locked, and bent together they created vibrant worlds where everything (a rocking chair, a bed cover, a mountain) had personality and something to express. The end of this show left me feeling like I was not just an audience member, but a performer as well and I got to share in the group joy of physical expression to music…in other words I danced my ass off!
