What I liked
The visuals and sound helped to create a story and backdrop that kept everyone engaged and connected with the performance. I also liked how engaged with the audience he was and often looked into the audience to share an emotion or story. There was a mixture of humor as well just at the right time to lighten some of the heaviness. His voice and tone were perfect for the atmosphere and delivered well.
What I didn't like
Perhaps a stronger air conditioning unit since the theatre is small and it was a little hot, but not to where it was distracting or unbearable.
My overall impression
One of the most heartfelt and entertaining performances I have seen. Athony is extremely talented and draws your attention in with his own truth telling about his past and struggles with anxiety, isolation, weight, and the ultimate approval of his father. The story was relatable to everyone and touched our emotions in a way that we will not forget his brave journey from NYC to LA to pursue his career in acting, while fighting for the approval of his father and dealing with the isolation that comes with life. We all walked away with an impression of how it feels to have the “weight” of the world on your shoulders while battling life’s challenges and ever-changing dynamics. A solid performance indeed!
