Something I noticed is that every time Krieger started to directly engage the audience I would think “why is he doing this, you’re on a roll — keep the bit going!” It felt like he was picking moments where he only had something to lose. And there was always a moment or two where I thought my fear was confirmed, that his wild left turn was ill-advised… but as the show continues, you realize that the mini chaos is intentional, he is always able to build either bigger comedy or weightier insights off of it.
What I didn't like
Whenever he looked at the ticking clock and it made him feel stress, it also made me feel stress.
My overall impression
I laughed throughout and not a sitting-back-and-laughing kind of laugh. More like a constant gear-shifting in my laughs as the comedy constantly toggled back-and-forth between absurdist & incredibly grounded, or dark vs warmly connective.
