ZELDA WILLSON uncertified reviewer July 23, 2024
"Imagine a World" is a must-see for those who appreciate intelligent, unapologetic satire. McLaughlin’s direction ensures that the pace never lags, keeping the audience engaged from start to finish. While the play’s mature content and biting humor may not be for everyone, it provides a much-needed release for those frustrated with the current political climate. It's a scathing, laugh-out-loud commentary that holds a mirror up to the absurdity of power and privilege. Prepare to shudder, gasp, and cringe as McLaughlin’s darkly comedic vision unfolds. This is one theatrical experience you won't soon forget.... full review

Trumpery is a laugh-out-loud lampoon of a loathsome family. Is it possible for a whole ensemble to steal the show? If yes, this group of talented actors did just that.... full review

Going in, I feared I might have been too Trumped-out to enjoy a comedy about that kooky klan. I was wrong. The show made me laugh from start to finish. I especially enjoyed Austin Walker's bumblingly cruel Trump, Connie Cantwell as Tiffani, the Jan Brady of the Trump family and Felix Pire as a totally p-whipped and sniveling Jared Kushner.... full review

Trumpery was LOL funny but also surprisingly nasty... in the best way. The cleverness of the plot took me on an uncomfortably familiar ride through the Land of Dysfunctional Families finally stopping to drop me off in No Fucking Way Town! And the talent - particularly Connie "Slocum" Cantwell as Tiffany and Lauren Howard Hayes as Melania - absolutely slayed! ... full review

This show was super fun! Great cast, high energy, lots of laughs. If you think you've seen all that could be said about the Trumps, you're wrong, because this is a hilarious satire with a real story, a fun plot, a brilliant cast, and is just overall a great time! Definitely recommend, because to me, this type of thing is exactly what the Fringe is for. Fast, fun, fringey, maybe some other f-words. Go! ... full review

I didn't know what to expect when I got tickets to this performance. It was late, way past my bedtime and I thought I might struggle to get through it. I was WRONG! It is so well written and the actors are hilarious. Perfectly cast. Austin Walker as Trump is funny as heck. Ivanka and Tiffany are the perfect rival siblings and the little dance Tiffany gives the audience is just so giving. I laughed out loud the entire show! Thank you. I am not going to spoil it for you and tell you who the stowaway is but it was a real surprise. ... full review

Christian McLaughlin’s creation seemed rooted in an almost prophetic insight. It offered a timely narrative and characters so vividly portrayed that it felt as though the play was drafted with a crystal ball in hand! The actors' masterful impersonations of the Trump family were uncannily accurate, perfectly capturing their comedic essence. The brilliance of "Trumpery" lies in its ability to make us laugh and in its capacity to acknowledge and reflect on the never-ending Trump family news cycle of the last several years. The semblance of the Trump family trying to outmaneuver the law, depicted with McLaughlin’s sharp wit, provided a space for the audience to find solace in absurdity, offering relief and a sense of unity in laughter. ... full review
