The acting crackles, the writing sizzles. Christian McLaughlin is a comic genius of a writer, imbuing his script with laugh-a-minute jokes. I admit, I dislike the people depicted, but I LOVE the story, the performances, the whole thing. Tiffany—I’m laughing just typing the name—is in on the hilarious joke; Melania with one squint can bring the house down; Donald can give any SNL impersonator a run for their money; the “no spoiler alert” surprise guest kept me in stitches; and Ivana and Jared were as hysterical as they were despicable. (Forgive me for not knowing the actual performers’ names. I hope one day we all will.) 10 out of 10.
What I didn't like
I want to be honest: the poster image didn’t pull me into the show. A picture of the cast could have done a much better job of grabbing my interest.
My overall impression
Trumpery is a laugh-out-loud lampoon of a loathsome family. Is it possible for a whole ensemble to steal the show? If yes, this group of talented actors did just that.
