What I liked

the actors are all clearly friends offstage which allow them to reach great heights and great lows in emotional moments onstage. the emotional moments were highlights and the Ashley and Gill characters helped add some laughter and levity in pivotal moments.

What I didn't like

It relied on a few tropes and genericisms (that were played well nonetheless), where the show could have thrown the audience for a loop in those moments and made us guess about what was going to happen instead.

My overall impression

Broken Unions is beautifully tough, like life. Especially during/after the ’08 financial crisis. Its an age old story told through fresh eyes. It invites you into a world full of nostalgia, yet remains a poignant reminder of recent historical turmoil.
