We love the opening character Rose immediately! We laugh with her and care for her and her neighbor (the character “Leslie”) as they talk about church, family, and the institutions in America that have wrought harm but also a measure of promised hope. (Did I mention we laugh?!!)
What I didn't like
A lovely show.
My overall impression
A solo show made up of characters who deserve to be seen and heard, and whose stories of pain and resilience Leslie tells with care and humor. An American story of generations of women who we recognize but don’t see enough on stage— kudos to this smart, talented creator!
