The performances were exceptional, with each actor delivering a powerful and authentic portrayal of their character. The actors’ use of language, grammar, and their Persian accents enriched the play and added a layer of authenticity that made the story feel even more real. The set design was well-executed, effectively creating the various environments within the story. Lighting and choreography was excellent. The integration of a live band, woven into the storyline, was a highlight, particularly the music composed by Ali Azizian, which enriched the emotional depth of the narrative.I loved emotionally loaded scenes such as the one with the heated argument between the immigrant mother and her daughter over cultural expectations, identity, and longings never to be fulfilled.
What I didn't like
I enjoyed the show and can’t think of anything
My overall impression
Wonderful! “Tehrangeles” is an evocative and compelling theatre production that masterfully captures the multifaceted experience of immigration. “Tehrangeles” stands out in today’s theatre for its rich cultural diversity and offering a fresh and unique perspective that is both enlightening and deeply moving. Hope to see broadway embracing such new perspectives.
