Thought the choreography and dancers were excellent. The band was very talented. The story had some great potential. I enjoyed the “where are they now” at the end. Unusual for a stage play. This story could work as a film with some adjustments.
I think Farideh Kakavand was a stand out for me. Although directed in some strange ways at times she brought a lot of heart to the role. Shamiram Ghashehpour has a lovely voice as a singer. Ali Azinzian found moment of heart in the show.
What I didn't like
20 minutes late for a start time. This cannot happen with a show. 5 minutes here or there is workable but 20 minutes in a Fringe show? There was a show after this one. It is unprofessional and disrespectful.
Although there were a handful (small handful) of moments in the play that resonated, overall (some of) the acting was wooden and delivered like it was being read to us. For spending nearly $50 for the tickets some of the acting felt amateur at best. The staging was boring or, even worse, at times unlit.
Shamiram Ghashehpour has a lovely voice but needs acting lessons. Afshin Katanchi seemed as though he was struggling with remembering his lines at times. So wooden and stiff. Genevieve Joy was a bit wasted in this show. Seemed like she had more potential but even her delivery felt forced and unnatural.
I sincerely wanted to love this show. Sad that I didn’t.
My overall impression
Overall the essence of the story was interesting to me. The dancing and band were excellent. However, the acting and directing needs some adjusting.
