What I liked

The plot, the characters, the mixture of drama, comedy, and a pinch of romance.

What I didn't like

While the space was intimate and acoustic, a better sound engineering can bring out all the beautiful notes and dialogs that are skillfully developed.

My overall impression

I very much enjoyed watching TehrAngeles, the English version, at the Hudson Theaters. The play tells the story of LA, a sanctuary for starting over for an immigrant Persian family who’s left with nothing with hopes, aspirations, and derive to build a new life and thrive. It also tells the story of the Loss Angeles Public Library, the best place in LA for new beginnings.
The English translation makes the musical theater (originally developed in the Persian language) available to a broader audience, including my young daughter who cried with Sima and Zohreh, laughed with Mory, experienced Persian activism with Aria and Lauren, and tasted love Persian-American music with Siavash and Catherine. This show gave us an opportunity to talk about our roots, heritage, and struggles in becoming part of the LA that we love, a place we call home, as in TehrAngeles.
