Really appreciated the commitment to irreverence while connecting to a core, liberating message. Also that it was willing to extend beyond traditional boundary lines without crossing them offensively. Creatively present in taboo land without being muted is no small feat. I’ve never seen a premise like this before, and it was working.
Characters were all fantastic, and the limited set for Fringe worked well to communicate the story, like the bell on the door.
The Peggin back and forth number was wild and a highlight for me, both among all the characters and the genius.
The mixture of rhythmic music arched beyond traditional musicals while still clearly being one.
What I didn't like
Was a bit difficult to hear some of the singers at time over the music, especially the first song.
My overall impression
Witty, funny, AND with a point of view in a package I’ve never seen before? One ticket to Morgan, please!
