I loved their sound design. The VO and transitions were expertly executed. I think Candace is a classic actor and is incredibly castable. This is my first time seeing her in anything, but I can’t wait to see her in more. Both actresses have strong storytelling abilities and are incredibly smart in their choices on stage. I can tell they are connected and listen to each other and can rely on each other, on stage. I loved the clarity of their character switches, through hair clips and accents, etc.; it was simple but extremely effective.
What I didn't like
Vocal projection, maybe… i love the more intimate volume choice they chose for the space, though, so its maybe vocal clarity after the big audience laughs. This show doesn’t really need to be improved. Its a show they can package and place anywhere with infinite different cast pairings and it can be performed a million times over because the structure is clear and the theme is important enough to resonate in any space. I hope to see it again.
My overall impression
I learned a whole lot about the immigration experience from two polarized perspectives. It is incredibly important and meaningful for Americans to see more empathetic and realistic portrayals of immigration, now more than ever. I want more…
