What I liked
I loved the character dynamics and how the relationships were so intertwined. It was super fun to follow along and see how these connections were developed. It touched on so many key themes of being a tween, and I loved all of the 2012 references made (#gleeks).
What I didn't like
I was a bit confused during the beginning monologues as I wasn’t aware of characters names or relationships, but after a couple minutes I started to understand what conversations were happening and who the people were. Perhaps this was the intent, but for a second I was lost.
My overall impression
As someone who was in middle school in 2012, this play was so spot on and written perfectly. Super niche to the times, and very relatable. The cast was amazing and very believable as dramatic middle schoolers, all the jokes landed very well, and the songs used were perfect. I laughed throughout the entire show, and I would love to watch it again.
