The use of humor to balance the tragedy of family separation and dealing with racism in the United States.
What I didn't like
Yelba down played her natural beauty. A plain Jane she ain’t.
My overall impression
A brilliant first person account of the trauma and adversaty of immigrating to the United States in. Relatable and haunting. The use of several characters and voices showcased her unique voice and observations of what was happening in the U.S. in the 1980’s to the present. She was dazzling to watch.
