The lighting design and staging were splendid; what is a small black-box theater felt like a modern stage on Broadway. The dancing was fun and frankly very impressive, would be fun to see more of it! Above all the acting is just top notch, each character was distinctive, each with its own point of view, body, and voice. The film adaptation of this has Scorsese’s name all over it.
What I didn't like
Would love to see this adapted for television or film.
My overall impression
Elias performs with such passion that you’re transported from Hollywood to Broadway. The well-written story, the passion, and the flawless execution make Greek Viper one of the most compelling stage shows that I’ve seen. Elias morphs from one character in such a way that you leave wondering how that was one person and not a full cast. The original writing combines the humor and levity of “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” with the suspense, grit, and sorrow of “A Bronx Tale”. In one moment I was laughing with the mom character, and in the next moment I was at the edge of my seat with the mob character.
