About the Project
This is a “no holds barred” one woman show. Based on a true story of A young black girl coming of age as she grows up in a all white rural fishing village in Nova Scotia Canada, trying to fit in and not stick out.She had five brothers, was the only girl and came from a family who took the “fun” out of dysfunction. Despite all the catastrophes, this story shows how we have the ability to find the laughter in all of life’s challenges and circumstances, no matter what you face. It is a story of determination survival against all odds. It cover’s her life journey’s to the “Motherland”(Brooklyn) to live amoung her “people” the cultural shock, the serial muggings, again as she tried to fit in. Her life as a wife and a mother and the many adventures that challenged her sanity.
