I loved the acting. It was hard to think of it as acting. Two adults accidentally reconnecting years after having spent one innocent yet intimate and meaningful night together as teenagers, try to get to know each other after having lived vastly different lives. I loved how the actors helped me feel their confusion, delight, curiosity, longing – a full range of emotional experience so deeply.
What I didn't like
It was perfect!
My overall impression
Dusk Rings a Bell is a profound production in every way. The two gifted actors gave richly emotional, pitch perfect performances that made me forget that I was actually watching a play and not eavesdropping on a two people having an intimate emotional reconnection. The directing, simple set, and music made for an immensely accessible theatrical experience.
