What I liked

I liked so much of this show. The concept is so great and the music was perfect. The performances were strong as well.

What I didn't like

This section may seem harsh and I don’t mean it to. I absolutely loved the concept of this piece but I think that this show was “So close” to being GREAT it didn’t quite reach its goal. The academic and the old man composer were excellently cast. The daughter was an incredible speaker and I loved hearing the poetry in her voice. She was beautiful to listen to. However, I don’t think that she switched drastically enough into the frantic daughter. This role would benefit being played by a comedienne. I also think that some of the ‘jokes’ went on a little too long attempting to be emphasized too hard. The repeated poetry is what I mean mostly. It wasn’t being played with differently enough to move from annoying into hilarious. Sometimes the music was TOO loud and I understand the purpose of it swelling in certain areas but it didn’t give the actress an opportunity to switch seamlessly cause she was fighting over the volume. Again, I felt like this show was an ‘almost’ and I was sitting there going “Oh man, they should have done THIS or THIS” And it’s because I liked so much of it that I felt so passionate about what it COULD have been.

My overall impression

Hilarious and beautiful concept with excellent music, performances and heart.
