I liked the simplicity of the staging. I liked the engagement of the daughter and the doting student with the audience.
What I didn't like
Perhaps it was intentional but I wanted to hear Norman Judd be more emotive. Not necessarily with words but with a moan or grunt or maybe even more of a facial reaction in response to his daughter’s complaints. This could actually be to the audience as did the daughter and student.
My overall impression
Be sure to check out Norman Judd: A Life in Concert. It is smart, funny, thought provoking and poignant. In a short 45 minutes Kyle Therral Wilson tells a great deal of information about the relationship between a self absorbed father and his needy daughter with his poetic words. The daughter was still longing to receive her father’s attention. Surely this will be it. This time it will be about her.
