The acting was impeccable. To see such a talented group of young actors do a phenomenal job at playing characters that were all somewhat out of their, so to speak, “playable” age range was great to see.
What I didn't like
This is no fault of anyone in the Sunken team but I would like to see this production have a bigger budget and see what it can do with more money and a bigger stage.
My overall impression
Sunken is a deep insightful look into what it means to lose someone close. An incredibly insightful play coming from a surprisingly young writer. Writer/ director/ actor Skyler Shen shows again, after her previous play Fishbowl Sonata, that her unique voice in writing tells not just one perspective of a story but from multiple points of views. In Sunken she delves into both the mind of the children and parents that have lost each other and are separated by mortality. A seemingly dark and yet hopeful story that is wrapped in a lot of references to fish and water.
