something beautiful

Something Beautiful really captures the essence of womanhood; life, mother, love, and how we come home to ourselves. I was engaged thoughtfully the entire time with so many breaks of humor, and I could watch this production 100 more. I’ve always heard that good art leaves room for the viewer to see themself and I saw so much of myself here, my own heart and how I have healed from grief in my own funny mirrored story. Thank you :)... full review

This show was beautifully performed and written by a true talent, Kathy Jensen. I was so impressed with the comedy balanced by heartbreak. She told her true story, and it touched me down to the core. About Love and Loss, and Family. I was so invested and was hanging on every word. Well worth it! ... full review

Connections! I think Kathy's show was about connections. Connections between lovers, friends, family and ourselves. This was a lifetime journey to love and be loved with authenticity, vulnerability and honesty. I laughed (too, loudly sometimes!) and I cried my eyes out!!! There was so much love in this story, I felt it in every word.... full review

"SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL" was a wonderful way to spend 75 minutes. It was a very intimate and personal feeling solo show as if we were hanging out in Kathy Jenson's living room and she was sharing her story with us. She took us on an emotional journey and yes lots of us were crying during parts. ... full review

A beautiful tribute to two people who the author loved and to love itself. This show is relatable. We have all experienced love and loss and as such you are part of the human family. Art is experiencing. An artist makes you say, "Yes, I know what you mean. I know how that feels." And so it is with this show. ... full review

For 75 minutes, Kathy Jensen accomplishes something extraordinary: she taps directly into our universal need for love and acceptance with grace, whimsy, and riveting storytelling. She's also funny as hell. With her twinkly eyes and straightforward upper-Midwestern affect, she replays pivotal moments in her life ranging from early boyfriends to the unlikely love of her life, culminating in a moving tribute to her late mother. Her show's title comes from a promise she made to her mother, and when that moment lands, it is a revelation that comes without an ounce of sentimentality--and is all the richer for it. Disclosure: I have known Kathy for about 30 years and performed with her. I have never seen her this funny, or as smart or as vulnerable... full review

Simplicity and grace. It was so nice to see someone on stage so comfortable in their skin and with their story. It's a pleasure to watch someone tell a piece of their story artfully and lovingly.... full review

Don't miss it! Aptly named piece of gently told, funny storytelling about a woman's life loves. Jensen strikes the right tone poking fun at herself while also sharing luck and loss. ... full review

A heartfelt approach to searching for love, finding it and the kind of heartbreak seldom told. Using humor, self reflection and perspective, the road to relationship is examined with compassion and openness leaving the audience with a feeling of warmth and teary eyes.... full review
