What I liked
-The performances are great, which for a two-person show they have to be, but Tyler in particular is a standout. The show demands a lot from them and they deliver it all perfectly. I hope to see them in future fringe shows!
-I’m not sure who’s in charge of the livestream, but the quality was much better than I anticipated, so well done to whoever manned the cameras.
What I didn't like
-As dark as other reviews say this dark comedy gets, I couldn’t help but feel it pulled its punches a little. The absolute darkest and most chilling fact is left unsaid, instead only shown on a screen, which is disappointing given how wonderfully Tyler would have delivered it. Our justice system is as flawed as it is because people are given the option to look away; this show should take that option away from them.
-I personally am not a fan of the pop culture reference style of humor, but I recognize that’s just personal taste and many will disagree with me. Still, it made it feel at times like the show was a little unsure of itself and needed to throw in a quick Avenger’s Endgame reference for easy laughs, and I think the subject matter deserves a little better.
My overall impression
A compelling premise that probably works a little better live than streamed (which is how I saw it), but even then is worth catching for the fantastic performances!
